Though it may be true when they say beauty comes at a cost, it’s not always necessary to shell out the big bucks for luxe make up when we have our drugstore dupes for the high end makeup! Here we introduce you to some affordable drugstore dupes for your favourite high-end products!
Urban Decay Naked Palette 2 (Rs. 3500 approx) vs. Maybelline’s The Nudes Eyeshadow Palette (Rs. 899)
UD’s Naked Palette needs no introduction and is one of the most coveted beauty products in the world. Though not officially available in the Indian market, it features in every make up lover’s kit and is famed for its heavily pigmented natural shades. The Nudes Palette serves as a good dupe as it offers similar shade, pigmentation, and texture at a fraction of the price!
Diorshow Iconic Mascara (Rs.1900 approx) vs. L’Oreal Voluminous Million Dollar Lashes Mascara (Rs. 580 apptox)
The Diorshow mascara boasts of an intense black color and a wand that effortlessly separates lashes for a fuller look. The L’Oreal dupe, comes with a similar wand that adds volume and length in seconds, for the million dollar lashes that you dream of! For this very dupe, save and go for L’Oreal rather than splurging on the same effect mascara which can get lil clumpsy unlike the L’oreal miliion dollar lashes!
Ruby Woo is a matte lipstick with a cult following that hangs is the perfect balanced cool red, which is why it’s supposed to work on everyone. Its intense matte formula has incredible staying power, but is a little drying. Lakme’s dupe is an equally bright red, boasting of rich pigmentation and a matte finish tho not as matte as Ruby Woo. It does dry the lips slightly, but its nothing a little lip balm can’t fix. At about a third of the price of its Mac counterpart, its definitely a must buy! Another good dupe for MAC Ruby Woo is the Rimmel Kate Matte Lipstick Kiss of Life, which is exactly the same as MAC Ruby Woo!
Tom Ford Indian Rose (Rs. 3380 approx) vs. Chambor Powder Matte Lipstick Desert Rose (Rs. 645)
Indian Rose is a lovely everyday muted pink lipstick that works perfectly for office wear too. It leaves you looking polished and sophisticated, with minimal effort. Desert Rose, however is a cheaper alternative to achieve the same matte peachy hue. Its incense like fragrance can trouble some people, but it only lasts during the application period!
Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation (Rs. 4000 approx.) vs. L’Oreal True Match Lumi Healthy Luminous Makeup (Rs. 845 approx.)
Both these foundations offer a glowing finish and are manufactured by the same umbrella company, so there is no reason to think twice before buying the cheaper alternative! True Match provides a little lesser coverage than the Giorgio Armani foundation, but that makes it a perfect everyday product. Also, the L’Oreal True Match super blendable foundation is the closest dupe to Giorgio Armani foundation. Now it all makes sense, why the price difference but the same formula ~ they all are manufactured in the same factory with pretty much the same ingredients but are given fancy lil tag of high end & drugstore just to boost their sales!
NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer (Rs. 2000 approx.) vs. Maybelline Fit Me Concealer (Rs. 500)
The cult favorite concealer of every makeup guru ~ Nars Radiant Creamy concealer has a exact same dupe which thankfully has made it to the Indian market ~ Maybelline Fit Me Concealer, the consistency, formula, texture all are almost the same, only difference is in the staying power where NARS concealer can last upto 10 hours, Maybelline one lasts 5-6 hours which can still be dealt with provided it feels exactly the same like the famous NARS radiant creamy concealer and costs almost a fraction of what NARS is priced at!
MAC Strobe Cream (Rs. 2240 approx.) vs. L’Oreal Lumi Magic Primer (Around Rs. 1200)
MAC strobe cream is for the ones who like dewy, luminous skin and it boasts a metallic sheen like glow and primes the skin making the rest of the makeup go smoother & softer and makes the makeup lasts long, the same effect can be achieved by L’Oreal lumi magic primer which offers the same sheen like glow and is way much cheaper than the Strobe Cream. You can not go wrong with this dupe find!
Makeup Forever HD Foundation (Rs. 2900) vs. Revlon Photoready Foundation (Rs. 850)
The much raved Makeup Forever HD Foundation has a dupe too (to be precise two dupes from the same brand) for all the good reasons. While the Makeup Forever HD foundation is a must have in every makeup artist’s bag for the high coverage and flawless finish it provides, the Revlon Photoready Foundation is no less great than the MUFE foundation. The packaging & consistency being pretty much the same with the same amount of product (30 ml) and medium consistency (neither thick nor runny), the Revlon Photoready foundation is light weight with a little less coverage than the MUFE foundation but the coverage can be built up unlike the MUFE foundation where it can get cakey if built up even a bit. For the lighter texture and feel, the coverage which can be built on, the Revlon Photoready foundation is a total steal provided it’s almost the exact same dupe of the famous MUFE HD foundation. Also, Revlon Colorstay is a close dupe to MUFE with the coverage also being on the high side!
