My Take on Lotus Daily Multi-Function Sunblock SPF 70:
I think this sunblock have all the qualities a good sunblock should have, I mean look at the SPF, its UVA protection factor (PA+++), its texture and the oil free, preservative free claims. All these things are enough to blow your mind off and pick up this sunscreen- this is why I picked it up and now, I don’t know how to end using it.
The texture of the sunblock is soft and smooth, it spreads and absorb nicely giving a moisturized healthy glow. This is what I love about it, it feels like a tinted moisturizer and gives sheer coverage and brighter skin immediately on application. The smell is also very nice, feels refreshing and soothing, does not feel strong or irritating at all. Now coming to the hate part, why I don’t like this sunblock! It’s because it gives me hell lot of troubles the day I use it, ya you heard me right, I can wear it nicely and happily for a single day and the next day when I wake up, I see my face full of prickly heat, if you know that small itchy thing you get in summers and for me there’s no season for that itchy thing on my face if I have used this sunblock. I used it a week ago in a hurry not realizing how hazardous after effects it gives me and like always my face was filled with itchy prickly heat which takes the face of breakouts after 3-4 days, ya this is the case with me when I use this sunblock so I hate it more than I love it for its qualities.I know I maybe the first one giving this sunblock a bad review but trust me I’m always true to my words and doesn’t go on writing what everyone else is telling you, if I have a bad experience with a product, I give it bad reviews and if I have a good experience I give it good reviews. Don’t know what maybe the case with me getting allergic to this product as I don’t have sensitive skin, it may be the tube either (and I can’t buy another tube for 500 bucks to test how that will feel on my skin) or it maybe one of the ingredients that I might be allergic to!
While searching a bit online to what ingredient in this sunscreen I can be allergic to- I found out that I developed contact dermatitis which is an itchy blistering skin rash caused by coming in contact to certain substance present in a sunscreen. On searching a bit more, I found out what ingredients in sunscreens can cause contact dermatitis, I’m listing them down below.
- Para-Aminobenzoic Acid (PABA)
- Benzophenones
- Cinnamates
- Salicylates
- Dibenzoylmethanes
- Octocrylene
This sunblock has benzophenones in it as a top 4th ingredient and I got badly allergic to it due to which I got blistering itchy rashes over my face and I thought them to be prickly heat. Remember, not everyone may be allergic to these ingredients as I was but it’s always better to avoid such ingredients than to take any risk.See what mess its cap gets!!BML Rating:Â 2/5
Bye bye people, I’ll be on a mini vacation for 3-4 days. If possible, I’ll keep you updated with the posts but I don’t think I’ll be able to write posts in these days so don’t miss me much and wait for me as I’ll be back soon :D
I think its breaking u out because of carrot, remember dat aroma magic carrot sunscreen u reviewed? u said it gave u bumps.. and yea i dono wat to do with these prickly heat, after fever effects :( spf 70 is good but what to do with it if it has these many disadvantages… tinted? oh i gave up using lotus spf 40 cuz its tinted.. i strtd sweating all orangey.. and it was patchy after that (in peaks of summer) … a skip for sure :)

Ya that also can be the reason, carrot also breaks me out beside benzophenone in it which is particularly responsible for blistering skin rash, prickly heat can be treated by washing face with fuller’s earth instead of using a face wash. Hehe ya this one is also tinted. Will post my pics, thanks Vaishu :D
Oh! Shd always chk d ingredients list carefully den.. oh i used fabindia tea tree toner n den clincin gel to get rid of doz and yea it was gone in 4 to 7 days completely :D
I had a similar experience with this. I just thew the tube after 2 or 3 uses.
BTW Happy vacation Arzoo :-*

Oh no, bad that it dint work out for you. I loveee this sunscreen, I use it everyday. But I have oily skin thats why maybe? This can be a little drying if you have dry skin.
I know that it works really well for you but I’m allergic to benzophenone in it.

thanks for pointing it out. I used the spf 40 version and did not cause any allergic reaction on me and i loved spf 50 more than spf 40. will stay away from spf 70 for the best :)
I got a bad allergy 3 weeks back and I took treatment which took 3 weeks to help. We did not know what caused the allergy . So I changed all my products . Today my allergy was gone completely so I applied this spf 70 lotus sunscreen again . And now I have got the allergy back on. My face is red, full of bumps and super itchy. Just realised that this what I am allergic to. Will have to see the doc again tommrow.I so wish I had read this review before buying this sunscreen.
Also from what I gathered, it’s high spf that can cause allergy to some people. As for lotus sunscreen I have never had allergy when I used spf 50 lotus sunscreen. It only happened with spf70 lotus sunscreen.
I experienced this allergy too!!! It’s super itchy. What’s the cream recommended by your dermatologist?
Even i got allergy from this product and even bb cream of lotus with sunscreen gave me recent years allergy which i am going through
I too got lots of bumps on my face after first use of lotus SPF 70 recently…The first bad experience with lotus products ….
